4th of July

I really wanted to see if I could make an espalier tree, so I used the bottom half of a dental floss container as a planter and twisted floral wire as a tree form. Wrapped fine steel wool around the wire, put glue on the steel wool and sprinkled dried grass over it. Voila, my tree. Two more dental floss bottoms were filled with shorter bushes and all positioned in front of the wire shelf backdrop. The mullticolored ball was put on the lawn to hint at the possibility of games after eating.

I removed the hook from a suction cup hook and turned the suction cup over to make a glass salad bowl, and filled it with tossed green salad with the decorative ends from toothpicks as salad servers. A red bottle cap was filled with "looks like" potato salad. There are paper napkins next to the centerpiece (also in a red bottle cap),
This is one of my first miniature scene creations. It started out as an outdoor scene because I wanted to use the wire shelf bottom of a decorative bird cage that I had turned into a conservatory. Using a linoleum sample from a home improvement specialty store, I partitioned off a curved section with model rail road grass making a curb with polymer clay (which now shows the shrinkage of time). A white plastic toy table from my brother-in-law, was decked out with a scrap of Fourth of July bunting (source unknown), to sit in the patio and hold picnic goodies.

The Fourth of July themed paper plates and the firecrackers' centerpiece were cutouts from my miniatures magazine. Hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos and pizza were created with polymer clay

The cooler is a lidded plastic box painted grey with clear beads for ice and a variety of soft drinks picked up at a miniature show.

The croquet set was a spur of the moment purchase while visiting a miniature shop (I hate to just walk in, look around a leave empty handed). I cut the tops off of some big paper clips to make the wickets.
